Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
This is one of the more common reasons for infertility affecting up to 5-10% of childbearing women. PCOS is caused by a hormonal imbalance that disrupts the ovulation, where it occurs less frequent than normal or prolonged menstrual period, affecting fertility.
They develop multiple (poly) small collection of fluids (cysts) in the ovary, causing failure for the egg to ovulate and be released normally. Women usually suffer from irregular cycles, weight gain, acne and excessive hair growth, as a result of this syndrome.
